Make the Most of “Holy Week!”

I have a confession to make… Every year, on Ash Wednesday, I enter into Lent with a bit of hesitancy. I think to myself, wow, Lent is SOOOO long, and I am so weak. Will I be able to “run the race, like St. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians, vs 24,

“Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win.

Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.

Thus I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight as if I were shadowboxing.

No, I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.”

And so, we are called, like St. Paul, to “finish the race.” We’ve got this week to make up for lost time, because Holy week is the “Lent on Steroids” week. See it through, pray daily, get to daily Mass if you can, and most definitely get to confession. Make it the most Glorious Easter you’ve ever had, by finishing in grand style!
